Vehicle rental service SIXT Australia has announced today that it will bolster its national fleet with at least 500 new BYD electric vehicles, further widening the range of EVs on offer for its customers. Internationally, SIXT has committed to purchasing as many as 100,000 EVs.
As part of SIXT Australia’s commitment to growing the largest and most wide-ranging EV fleet for hire, SIXT has signed an exclusive partnership with BYD, committing to buying an additional 500 EVs over the next 12 months.
SIXT already offer a range of EVs to hire including a Hyundai Ioniq, Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Kona EV, MG ZS EV and BMW IX3.
Australia is experiencing a large growth in electric vehicle sales. Having the ability to select an EV when hiring a vehicle is a great thing, however, fleet buys will compete with private vehicle owners who have struggled to get supply to match our growing demand. Hopefully, bulk purchases like this can help manufacturers secure more supply for Australia as previous batches of 500 units sell out in minutes.
The BYD ATTO 3’s are expected to become the first BYD vehicles available for hire through SIXT from mid-2023 and will offer SIXT customers an EV experience at an affordable price point.
The BYD Atto 3 offers up to 410km of driving range (NEDC) on the standard range battery and up to 480KM on the Extended Range option.

BYD has evolved from being the world’s largest battery manufacturer to a leader in electric vehicle sales worldwide, launching the ATTO 3 model in Australia which features their Blade Battery technology. In the short time since launch in 2022, BYD quickly rose to be the second leading EV car manufacturer in Australia.
