Android N has a VR mode, Google Play, YouTube will support VR

Google just announced Daydream, their new Virtual Reality platform. There’s 2 real components to this strategy. Daydream for Mobile is essentially built into the N release, but you will need a new phone that supports their specs to ensure latency is 20ms.

The second part of the Google VR strategy a reference design, not an actual headset. Google’s Cardboard was fine, but the company needs a serious VR platform when competing head-to-head with Facebook with Oculus.

To do that, Google have created Google Play for Daydream, this means you’ll be able immerse yourself in VR video. They say they’ve rebuilt YouTube from the ground up for VR. Details were light, so we’re not yet sure how this differs from the YouTube experience on the Gear VR.
