Cyberpunk 2077 adds NVIDIA DLSS 3 increases ray-tracing by as much as 100fps

Cyberpunk 2077 may have been out since December 2020, but more than 2 years later, it’s still receiving updates. Today the game’s amazing visuals got even better thanks to the addition of NVIDIA DLSS 3 support.

For those PC gamers with RTX graphics cards from Nvidia, you’ll be able to take advantage of DLSS 3 to increase the frame rate while enjoying the stunning lighting and shadows available when you enable ray-tracing.

In the years gone by, gamers used to test their PC performance by running Crysis but now in 2023, many turn to Cyberpunk 2077 as their benchmark. Below is a side-by-side video that demonstrates the vast improvement to performance with RTX On. In some instances, this results in a 100fps improvement.

With the latest and greatest 4090 GPU, you probably never had an issue, but for those trying to render games with Ray-tracing on and getting under 60fps, this can be the difference between the experience being buttery smooth, or a horrible mess. If you’re GPU isn’t up to the task, it’s likely to have to disable ray-tracing in Cyberpunk 2077, but with one update, it’s suddenly playable and looks amazing.

DLSS Is Always Learning, New Improvements in Cyberpunk 2077

The new patch delivers improvements including AI network enhancements for DLSS Frame Generation that better take advantage of game engine data, improving UI stability and image quality during fast movement.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sets a New Standard

Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that has defined next-generation gaming graphics through its use of DirectX Ray Tracing, a lighting technique that emulates the way light reflects and refracts in the real world, providing a more believable environment than what’s typically seen using static lighting in more traditional games.

The game uses several ray tracing techniques to render a massive future city at incredible levels of detail and gives gamers a peek into the future of PC gaming. The current version of the game uses ray-traced shadows, reflections, diffuse illumination, and ambient occlusion. If you turn on ‘Psycho mode’ in the ray-traced lighting settings, you will even see ray-traced global illumination as sunlight bounces realistically around the scene.

The result is a visually stunning gaming experience in a believable dystopian futuristic setting. Sprawling cityscapes that use subtle shadows to define depth. Windows, mirrors and puddles with accurate reflections. Night City districts are bathed in neon lights – an effect critical to the game’s cyberpunk aesthetic.

With the latest patch for Cyberpunk 2077 and a GeForce 40 Series GPU, gamers get a glimpse of PC gaming’s AI-powered future today.

DLSS 3 Sets the Stage for Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode!

The addition of DLSS 3 sets the stage for the pending Cyberpunk 2077 ‘Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode’, an upcoming update that will take the game’s ray tracing to new heights and greatly enhance the game’s already-incredible visuals.

‘Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode’ will cement Cyberpunk 2077 as the new ‘But can it play’ game for years to come. And DLSS 3 will be the key feature that gives GeForce 40 Series gamers the ability to answer ‘yes’ when asked ‘But can it run Cyberpunk?’.

“Playing Cyberpunk 2077 with the AI-powered performance of NVIDIA DLSS 3 is the best way to access the stunning visuals the game has to offer — this technology helps us take a new step toward combining unconstrained visual fidelity with exceptional performance.”

Cyberpunk 2077 joins more than 35 games that support DLSS 3.
