Cyberquad aint just for kids, used as an EV camera rig at TeslaTakeover

This weekend is the 2023 Tesla Takeover event held in the fields at Madonna Inn, San Luis Obispo, California. The 2-day event is a great opportunity for Tesla owners to connect with other Tesla enthusiasts, learn about the latest advancements in electric vehicle technology, and celebrate the future of sustainable transportation.

Those attending have started sharing pictures and videos from the event and one post in particular stood out. This post from CEO Knightscope, William Santana Li shows a film crew using the all-electric Cyberquad for Kids, being used in a very different way.

A film crew has attached a massive camera stabilizer on the front of it. Given the location is on grass, this presents a unique challenge for creating smooth video, but from the video, it looks like this rig works well to keep the camera steady.

Being attached to a small, nimble quad allows the camera to access areas larger rigs (often mounted to cars) would not be able to achieve. While we wait for an adult-sized cyberquad, this kids version allows the camera to maneuver over rough terrain, while having zero emissions and being virtually silent.

The crew are capturing the Robot Roadshow pod which showcases products from Knightscope. The pod itself looks impressive, with large glass windows and is able to expand to almost 3x the size of a standard container, making the space feel open and inviting. The pod is transported between events on a truck, and is scheduled to travel from CA to OH, PA and IL in the next 2 months.

The first Tesla Takeover was held in 2016 and has since grown to become the largest in-person community event in California, and one of the largest in North America. The weekend will be highlighted by keynote presenter Maye Musk, world-renowned dietician, model, entrepreneur, and bestselling author, and Sandy Munro, CEO of Munro Associates.

The event includes a wide range of activities including:

    • Meet and greet with your favourite Tesla YouTubers and influencers
    • Test drive Arcimoto’s all-electric fun utility vehicles (FUVs)
    • Educational workshops and seminars
    • Showcase and contest for the best customized Teslas
