MG ZS EV Long Range price cut to less than BYD ATTO 3, shorter range spec levels also reduced price

After experimenting for several months with rebates of up to several thousand dollars, MG Motor Australia has reduced the price on their ZS EV SUV range for all vehicles purchased from 1 November 2023.

The ZS EV is available in three variants, the Excite, the Essence and the Long Range. The Excite is technically discontinued but is still on sale while stock remains.

    The new pricing is:

    • Excite: $40,990 plus on road costs. 320km (WLTP). NSW $42,736 driveaway.
    • Essence: $43,990 plus on road costs. 320km (WLTP). NSW $45,736 driveaway.
    • Long Range: $49,990 plus on road costs. 440km (WLTP). NSW $51,736 driveaway.

When I test drove the just launched ZS EV Long Range in June 2023, it was $57,709 driveaway in NSW, so the price has dropped a sizable $5,973 since then.

Comparing NSW driveaway prices the MG ZS EV Long Range $51,736 now undercuts the BYD ATTO 3 Extended Range $52,112.92.

    An MG Motor Spokesperson said:

“MG continues to work with SAIC, our suppliers, Dealer Network and freight partners to reduce costs wherever possible. We are committed to helping more Australians to make the switch to EV sooner than later. Whenever we are able to pass price reductions onto our customers, we will make sure we do.”
