Pre-order the new slimmer PlayStation 5 today, available December 6

Sony has now confirmed the new look PS5 Console (Slim) will be available in Australia from December 6th and if you want one, you can pre-order starting today.

The smaller PS5 design has the same power as previous models and comes with 1TB storage for PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition. The new model also provides the option to add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive to PS5 Digital Edition.

The new form factor addresses the evolving needs of players, providing greater choice and flexibility. The same technology features that make PS5 the best to play are packed into a smaller form factor, along with an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and a 1TB SSD for more internal storage.

The new PS5 improves on the original PS5 that launched back in November 2020. The volume has now been reduced by an impressive 30%, and weight reduced between 18% and 24% compared to the previous models.

There are four separate cover panels, with the top portion in a glossy look, while the bottom remains in matte.

If you purchase the PS5 Digital Edition, you can add the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 later, as it will also be sold separately for A$159.95.

The recommended retail price at participating retailers for the new PS5 model at release is as follows:

    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – A$799.95
    • PS5 Digital Edition – A$679.95

If you want to use the PS5 Slim in a vertical orientation, you’ll need to grab the new Vertical Stand, which is compatible with all PS5 models and is sold separately at a price of A$49.95.

A variety of PS5 Console Cover colours for the new model will be available starting in early 2024, including an all-matte Black colourway and the Deep Earth Collection colours in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver. Local pricing for the PS5 Console Covers will be confirmed at a later date. Additional colours will be released in the future.
