This QLD drag racing event has a dedicated EV category and a $600 prize

Dragfest is a new event created by Cris Cross Art & Peninsula Motorfest. Designed to showcase some classic 1/8th mile racing, cruising and good times.

What’s really interesting about this event is its dedicated Electric Vehicle category. EVs are renowned for their rapid acceleration off the line, delivering instant torque, often backed by some smart software to manage traction.

This performance has led to some events banning EVs from competing, so it’s great to see this Australian event embrace and encourage EVs to get out and race.

This isn’t just for bragging rights, there’s actually real prize money on the line.

The total prize pool for the event is $4,000, while the winner of each category, including the EV all-wheel drive category, can win a $600 prize and a trophy. The Runner up wins $400 prize and trophy.

The event is known as Dragfest and runs down a 1/8th mile track at the Lakeside International Raceway, QLD.

Gates open at 7am , drivers briefing from 8.30am, 9.30am 2 hours of practice drags. Racing for money from 11.30am. For more information, head to their Facebook Event page.
