There’s still an awful lot of Windows XP machines out there, and if you’ve ever re-installed windows XP you know that even with XP SP2, there’s still a long list of updates to download when you connect it for the first time.
Solution: XP SP3. This will contain the updates Microsoft have released via Windows update between SP2 and now. These updates number in the hundreds.
SP3 is only at Release Candidate 2, so there’s sure to be minor changes between this and the final release. However if you want a sneak peak at what in store, then check it out. Just be prepared, Microsoft sometimes forces uses to remove earlier versions of service packs before the final version can be installed.
