World EV Day is just around the corner on September 9th, and bp pulse is gearing up to celebrate with a special offer for electric vehicle owners. From September 7th to 9th, enjoy a 15% discount on your EV charging sessions.
Whether you’re planning a weekend road trip, commuting to work, or simply enjoying a leisurely drive, this discount is a fantastic opportunity to save on your charging costs.
BP Pulse in Australia features rapid DC chargers capable of delivering speeds of up to 75kW (may receive upgrades to 150kW in the future). Each charger will have CCS plugs, and some will have both CCS and CHAdeMO plugs to fit your charging needs.
How to Take Advantage of the Discount
- Download and Register: If you haven’t already, download the free bp pulse app and create your bp pulse account before you start charging.
- Charge and Save: Between September 7th and 9th, charge your EV at any bp pulse location using your bp pulse account. The 15% discount will be applied automatically to your session.
How much does it cost?
You will find bp pulse chargers along the East Coast of Australia, as well as Perth, WA. While charging rates can vary, you’ll typically pay $0.65/kWh. If we reduce that by the 15% discount, you’ll pay A$0.5525/kWh.
Given the average battery size of an EV on the road in Australia, you’re looking at around A$27 to go from 20% to 80% state of charge. Based on the average efficiency figures of something like a Tesla Model 3 Long Range, you could expect to travel an around 330km with that energy, resulting in a cost per km or around A$0.08c per kilometre.
Charging at home is still going to be the cheapest source of power you have available (as low as A$0.08c/kWh or even less with solar), however that’s not always available to you, like on a weekend road trip. Regardless of the use of slower AC charging at home, or DC fast charging on the highway, all of this remains far less than the ongoing costs of a comparable ICE vehicle.
I’m currently working on a total cost of ownership calculator that compares the TCO of an ICE vs EV which I hope to release shortly.
bp pulse is committed to supporting EV drivers and making the transition to electric vehicles as seamless as possible. This World EV Day offer is a great example of their dedication to making EV charging more accessible and affordable.
*Please note that terms and conditions may apply to this offer. Be sure to check the bp pulse app and/or plugshare for further details.
Happy World EV Day and happy charging!
