One of the biggest entertainment releases of the year is taking place tonight around Australia. Grand Theft Auto 5 is massive, not only in it’s open world in-game scale, but also in storage size. When you pick up your pre-order at the midnight launch tonight, you’re in for a surprise when you get the game home.
Instead of inserting the disc and playing the game immediately, it’ll need to be installed to the hard drive. The 8.5GB installation is said to take the best part of 20 minutes. Probably a great time to grab a coffee or red bull for a big session on the bean bag in front of the TV.
As soon as you’re playing the game, you’ll forget about the install time, but it is a barrier that will thankfully be solved in the next generation consoles. Below is a video from Typical Gamer, which has had some of the most comprehensive coverage of GTAV in the lead up to its release. The Sunday Q&A is a video published each week responding to commenters. It’s really well done and clearly he spends a lot of time on the Rockstar forums to garner the inside knowledge.
