Razer lets you feel the game with Freyja, a HD Haptic Gaming Cushion

Overnight, Razer held RazerCon 2024, an event to announce new gaming products. Led by the charismatic CEO Min-Liang Tan, the company introduced a new product, the star of the show, known as the Razer Freyja.

This uses a technology called Razer SENSA and is the world’s first HD Haptic Gaming Cushion. As we play games, we connect with the virtual world, often through a controller or steering wheel that has force feedback and vibration, but those inputs are just a fraction of what’s possible.

Overt he years there has been some experimentation with clothing that contains force feedback, but that’s not going to appeal to many, so a happy medium is to integrate this tech into a cushion that you sit on, extending from the base of the chair, right up your entire back.

The product features a range of vibration locations that allows you to feel more of the in-game experience, using auto-to-haptic technology. This turns what you’re hearing, into feedback underneath you, allowing you to feel every in-game action from explosions to subtle vibrations, enhancing immersion like never before.

Something I’m keen to try out, is how this works in my racing simulator – the Next Level Racing GT Track. If the Razer Freyja fits on that, it’ll create an amazingly immersive racing experience. I I then feel like some time in a FPS game, it’ll be a simple lift and shift over to the office chair to continue the experience.

The product does offer some impressive technology and as such attracts a decent price at A$549.95, making it a product for enthusiasts looking for that next level experience. This will be available at at Razer.com, RazerStores & Authorised Resellers.

Earlier in the year at CES 2024, Razer previewed the device under the title Project Esther, we’re glad to see Razer turn it into a commercial product.

With multiple connectivity options including Razer HyperSpeed Wireless and Bluetooth, users enjoy effortless interaction across PC and across Android devices via the Razer Nexus app.

The quick-release connection feature ensures tidy cable management & prevents any snags on the wire, while the adjustable strap ensures a secure fit for most gaming or office chairs. Gamers can personalize their tactile feedback through Razer Synapse 4, where intensity levels can be adjusted, or choose from immersive haptic presets.

Razer had a number of other product announcements at the event and if you missed it, it’s available on-demand below.
