The Next Web says no iPhone 5 today, iPhone 4S is a go!

We are just a couple of hours away from the Apple event in which iPhone 5 is expected to be unveiled. Trusted source The Next Web has just posted that ‘sources familiar with Apple’s plans’ have informed them, there will be no iPhone 5 today. The speculated tear drop redesign is said to still be in the prototype stage and still a substantial time away.

Reportedly today’s ‘Let’s talk iPhone’ event at Apple’s HQ, will contain a much more powerful processor, 1GB RAM and 8 Megapixel camera in the same iPhone 4 body. There is a strange ‘new GPS features’ item listed, which has to be a software application built on location services as GPS Satellites haven’t spawned new data overnight.

If this does pan out to be true, then it would explain the announcement being scheduled at the much smaller location, than the regular Moscone West Centre. The great news is that the wait to have this confirmed or denied is a short one. The Apple event will commence at 4AM AEST, look out for posts here throughout the morning.
